Spooks is a puzzle game made for the Godot Wild Jam #20, the theme of which is 'every end is a new beginning'. The game, including its graphics (except fonts), music and sound effects were made within the 9 day time-frame of the event.

You take the role of a series of hapless adventurers on their quest to map the entire dungeon. However, this seemingly simple task becomes ever more treacherous as the spirits of past adventurers roam the dungeon. Thankfully, the efforts of those who went before are not wasted, as each new adventurer is able to study the maps of their fallen allies to aid in their mission.

Features:

  • The dungeon is different every time you play!
  • Original art, music and sound effects.
  • The ghosts of your adventurers follow the same path they did when they were alive and you were controlling them, meaning you must think carefully about where you step.
  • There are difficult decisions to be made, such as whether to take food from the corpses of previous adventurers in order to sustain yourself, or respectfully bury them, thus putting their ghost at peace.
  • The bodies of your previous adventurers must be carefully managed, as if they are left too long, their ghosts will pick up the bones from them and become dangerous skeletons.

Controls:

Please be sure to read the in-game help screen, as it properly explains the game's mechanics, some aspects of which may not be immediately apparent. Finally, don't worry about dying! It can't be helped.
